Air + Water Cooled Chillers
Cool Choices for Your Building
The technicians at Burkholder’s HVAC have installed both air cooled chillers and water cooled chillers in a variety of commercial buildings, depending upon the cooling requirements. While air cooled chillers do not require cooling towers or water pumps, some argue that a water cooled chiller offers better performance. We will help you decide which solution is best for your business.
For small to medium applications where space is limited, air cooled chillers offer efficient cooling with a very small footprint. However, that does not mean that large plants with greater cooling requirements are limited to using water cooled chillers. While air-cooled systems require ample air circulation because of the compressor’s heat rejection, water-cooled units also have special considerations for installation such as placement and the sheer size of the cooling towers. At Burkholder’s HVAC, we will work with you to determine the best option to support your needs. We have expert installers and will even perform maintenance on an existing chiller, whether we installed it or not!

Hydronic heating has become more commonplace in commercial applications, with a variety of installation options for this efficient, low-temperature, comfortable heating alternative.
Burkholder’s HVAC has been on the cutting edge of alternative heating system installation in eastern PA for over 50 years. Hydronic heat, using warm water running through pipes in the floor, has become an efficient and cost-effective choice for commercial and industrial facilities. Using an industrial boiler and a variety of mixing valves and manifolds, low-temperature warm water is delivered to a series of flexible, durable “PEX” tubing running through the floors. Most commonly these tubes are embedded in an insulated, lightweight concrete slab for highest efficiency.

At Burkholder’s HVAC we install and service building automation systems from several manufacturers for any size application.
